Murdoch Restaurant Consulting

About us

MURDOCH CONSULTING & MANAGEMENT has a single mission: to help you be the most successful restaurants in your area. We approach each of our clients with fresh eyes to develop customized, unique, and affordable solutions.

We started a restaurant consulting company because we saw a need for affordable consultants for small and medium size operations. We own small restaurants in small towns and understand issues associated with modest operations, particularly budget constraints. Your financial situation, location, customer base, and local trends are all part of the equation. The food industry has always been very competitive; Covid 19 has made it extremely difficult to survive, let alone turn a profit.

Dr. Severine Murdoch and Robert Murdoch are the co-founders of MCM and owners of Cowboy Café LLC, a company including several successful restaurants and a bakery across the state of Wyoming where they have resided for the past 20 years.

Dr. Severine Murdoch has a business law degree from Paris, France; a Master’s degree in general psychology, and a Ph.D. in business psychology. She specializes in management solutions, costs analyses, menu analysis, employee relations, and customer service. She has created countless menu items and made from scratch desserts including the award winning Cowboy Cafe pies.

Robert Murdoch has an MBA from the University of Oklahoma. He specializes in financial analysis, kitchen efficiency, and operational assessment.

    First restaurant opening

We opened the Cowboy Café in Dubois Wyoming in April 1993. It was our first business endeavor. We made many mistakes, learned a lot, improved, and ultimately started our brand: Cowboy Café.

    Jackalope Travel Stop opening

We took our entrepreneurial adventure a little further and opened a convenience store and gas station. We were limited by the size of our tanks and decided to rebrand the gas station into a travel stop focused on tourists, complete with the best jackalope exhibition in the west, tee-shirts store, chocolate, and ice cream. We incorporated the Jackalope Travel Store to our Cowboy Café brand as well.

    Cowboy Café Bakery opening

We created the Cowboy Café Bakery as our homemade pies became an immense selling point and marketing tool. Our pies won several awards and are famous across the State. The Cowboy Café Bakery was then born.

    Second restaurant opening

We opened a Cowboy Café in Sheridan Wyoming, and it became popular very quickly as the brand Cowboy Café was already known there.  We bought a failing restaurant downtown and transformed it into one of Sheridan’s most liked restaurants.

    Consulting firm opening

We decided to open a restaurant consulting firm to help entrepreneurs succeed. We had watched so many restaurants come and go, good people putting their savings into a new venture only to fail a year or two later because they lacked experience and knowledge. We decided that our journey could help others.  MURDOCH RESTAURANT CONSULTING was born.
